RUN, JUMP, THROW
We are excited to share the 2023 Run, Jump, Throw Weekend celebration that will honor Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority's own, Sharrieffa Barksdale. Soror Barksdale made the Olympic Track Team in 1984, running in the 400m hurdles. When Soror Barksdale returned home from the Olympics, her hometown, Harriman, TN, built a track named
The Sharrieffa Barksdale Track in her honor. After decades of neglect, the track is currently in disarray. Soror Barksdale's goal is to rebuild the track for so many disadvantaged children in her hometown as Soror Barksdale always says, "It's not about me, it's about a place for children to display their talent, and get scholarships so they can have an opportunity to be the best they can be in life."
Soror Barksdale is asking for our help in making the next student athlete's dream come true. Soror Barksdale was the first Olympian to come out of the small town of Harriman, Tennessee, and doesn't want to be the last. With our help, together we can make dreams come true.
We would like to ask for the following support to help us reach our goal. We are asking each Soror to donate $22 to help make this project "Greater". We are willing to accept whatever you or your chapter is interested in donating. Should your chapter donate more than $200 you will be highlighted by the region.
